Mesa Community Action Network (MesaCAN) helps low-income households across the City of Mesa with a host of services that include: financial assistance, educational assistance, employment assistance, health assistance, and other resources.

financial assistance
A New Leaf’s immediate financial assistance services help households with a variety of needs. We imagine a community in which households are able to thrive independently, and A New Leaf is here to guide our community along every step on the journey to financial freedom.

Financial Coaching
For households struggling to manage their bills, A New Leaf offers financial coaching. Qualified staff will work with you to establish a budget, understand how to save, learn to pay off debt, and more.

Rent and Utility Assistance
To help those most at risk of crisis, A New Leaf provides rental assistance to those facing eviction, as well as utility assistance to households facing utility shut-off. All applicants must be a Mesa resident, and meet set criteria.

Assets to Opportunity
The Assets to Opportunity (ATO) program offers 8:1 matched savings for education, 3:1 matched savings for small business, and financial literacy workshops.

A New Leaf imagines a community in which households are able to thrive independently. Whatever employment assistance someone needs, A New Leaf is here to guide our community along every step on the journey to find quality, well paid jobs.
Workforce Services
A New Leaf’s Workforce Services program helps all job seekers, including those recovering from a crisis situation, secure employment or create a plan for more stable employment.
Economic Development
Economic Development provides support to current and aspiring business owners across the Valley with a focus on employing low to moderate income individuals.

A New Leaf knows that our community is only healthy when the individuals within it are healthy. With programs that cater to a variety of different needs, MesaCAN has many quality services that can help those in need of quality healthcare.


Women, Infants, and Children
The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program provides families with nutrition information, healthy foods, breastfeeding support, as well as referrals to healthcare and other social services.


Maricopa County Public Health Immunizations
MesaCAN offers immunizations to children for free. The goal of the Maricopa County Public Health is to make the lives of County residents as healthy as possible.



educational assistance
A New Leaf believes that education is the key to solving many community challenges, such as homelessness, poverty, and household instability. Through a variety of programs, we help adults and children achieve their educational goals, from preschool to college.

GED to Degree Program
This program provides educational support and guidance to individuals 18 years and older who have not been enrolled in any GED Prep Program.
