volunteer income tax assistance
free tax filing services for households in need
filing taxes with confidence
A New Leaf’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program provides low-to-moderate-income households in the Valley with entirely free tax preparation.
VITA is a volunteer-based program, with local accountants, financial experts, and others stepping up to help their community. By recruiting top quality volunteers and requiring rigorous training, VITA provides top-tier service to the communities it serves.
Each year, the VITA program puts countless dollars back into the pockets of hard-working families and individuals. Offering such an important service to low-income households free of charge is critical, and A New Leaf is proud to invest in our community.

HOW TO QUALIFY

VOLUNTEER WITH VITA
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is a robust service in the West Valley, with the ability to help thousands of residents with filing their taxes. If you need a summary of services offered and the program itself, download our fact sheet today:
Starting with the 2026 tax filing season, the IRS will no longer issue paper checks for tax refunds. This means refunds will need to be received electronically. To help you get your refund safely and as quickly as possible, our VITA tax sites can connect you with options for low-cost, low-fee bank accounts through BankOnArizona.org. These accounts are available through multiple financial institutions and may be a good fit if you don’t currently have a bank account. See more by downloading the flyer below:
VITA services
Without help, it is extremely common for households to not claim their Earned Income Tax Credit, or to make mistakes in filing that reduce their returns. A New Leaf’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program ensures that households don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on filing their taxes, while also making sure that they receive all the tax benefits for which they are entitled.
how to qualify for VITA
A New Leaf’s VITA program offers free tax assistance to households who make $69,000 or less. Services focus on community members with disabilities, the elderly, veterans, Native Americans, the homeless population, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance preparing their tax returns.
