2024 Volunteer Appreciation Week

To all of our volunteers and interns,

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your commitment and dedication to helping those most in need. Your selfless contribution of time, energy, and compassion have made a profound impact on the lives of thousands of families and individuals across the Valley. Between all group and individual volunteers, you gave 46,231 hours to those in need this year!

Your service has been critical in ensuring that urgently needed shelter, food, and support reaches community members in crisis. You have served meals in shelters across the Valley, you’ve helped in A New Leaf’s donation center, you’ve brought toys and joy to children during the holidays, and so much more. Your efforts have helped to create a warm and welcoming environment for families looking to create a better life.

It is truly inspiring to see the impact that can be made when individuals like you come together to make a difference. Your willingness to give your time and talents is a testament to the power of volunteerism and the incredible impact it can have on the lives of those around us.

We recognize that the work we do would not be possible without your support, and we are truly grateful for everything you do. Your generosity and compassion are a beacon of hope for those in our community who are struggling, and we cannot thank you enough for your unwavering dedication. 

We also want to acknowledge our interns, who have also contributed to the success of our programs. Your commitment to learning and growing while giving back to our community is truly commendable.

Housing and Shelter Volunteers Gave 7,044 Hours of Time!

Volunteers have been an invaluable asset to A New Leaf’s Housing and Shelter programs. Your dedication to serving meals, assisting with daily needs in shelters, and providing a welcoming environment ensures that every resident feels safe, supported, and cared for. You are critical in helping families and individuals overcome homelessness!

Volunteers like you have played a crucial role in the success of these programs, contributing a staggering 7,044 hours of service over the past year. Your unwavering commitment has enabled us to provide critical housing and shelter services to those in our community who need it most. We are excited to continue working with volunteers like you to create a world where everyone has access to safe shelter and affordable housing.

Domestic and Sexual Violence Volunteers Gave 5,873 Hours of Time!

A New Leaf’s Faith House Program manager, Daniela Celaya, shares her appreciation for volunteers and interns, in honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week!

Volunteering in A New Leaf’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Programs is a powerful and compassionate way to make a difference in the lives of survivors. The love and care that volunteers provide through serving meals, organizing donations, and offering emotional support helps to create a safe, stable environment that is essential to the healing process.

The work of volunteers in domestic violence shelters is nothing short of remarkable. Their selflessness and compassion make a profound impact on the lives of survivors and the broader community. Volunteers and interns have contributed a combined 5,873 hours of service to these programs. We are endlessly grateful for the incredible contributions that volunteers make and for the kindness and compassion that they bring to our shelter programs.

Financial Empowerment Volunteers Gave 12,072 Hours of Time!

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, A New Leaf’s MesaCAN program coordinatior Diana Acuna shared her appreciation for the volunteers in programs like MesaCAN, VITA, and other Financial Empowerment programs.

Volunteers who help households with their finances through A New Leaf’s Financial Empowerment programs make a significant impact by providing essential support and guidance to those in crisis. Financial stability is a crucial component of well-being, and volunteers who offer their time and expertise can make a life-changing difference in the lives of those they assist. Over the last year, 12,072 hours have been contributed by interns and volunteers!

Volunteers in Financial Empowerment services help households with budgeting, debt reduction, tax preparation, and financial literacy education. By providing this support, they help individuals and families to take control of their finances and make informed decisions about their future. This type of volunteer work not only provides immediate relief to those in need, but also equips them with the tools they need to achieve long-term financial stability.

Health and Wellness Volunteers Gave 3,426 Hours of Time!

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, A New Leaf’s Director of Behavioral Health Services, Angela Abad, shares why she is so thankful for volunteers and interns in Health and Wellness programs across the Valley.

A New Leaf’s volunteers help make mental health services accessible and affordable for the community, and make a significant impact by ensuring that all individuals get the care and support they need. Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being, and the selfless volunteers who offer their expertise make an enormous difference in the lives of those they assist. Over the last year, 3,400 hours have been contributed from interns and volunteers!

This type of volunteer work not only provides immediate relief to those in need, but it also helps to create a more compassionate and supportive community for all. The impact of volunteers who help make mental health services accessible is immeasurable. We are endlessly grateful for the incredible contributions that these volunteers make and for the kindness and compassion that they bring to their work.

Administrative Volunteers Gave 17,727 Hours of Time!

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, A New Leaf’s Vice President of Philanthropy, Laura Bode, shares how thankful she is for volunteers and interns in programs across the Valley!

Volunteers who assist with administrative tasks change lives in our local community by supporting A New Leaf’s work. Volunteers who assist with administrative tasks may help with data entry, event planning, or fundraising efforts. By providing this support, they help A New Leaf to operate more efficiently and effectively, allowing them to serve more individuals in need.

The unwavering commitment and generosity of volunteers never cease to amaze us. Their selflessness and dedication create a ripple effect of positivity and hope, uplifting and empowering those in need. In the last year, these interns and volunteers have given 17,727 hours of their time! We are humbled by the incredible contributions of these volunteers and are honored to work alongside them in our mission to serve those in need.

Foster Care, Education, and Family Support Volunteers Gave 1,089 Hours of Time!

To celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Week, A New Leaf’s Foster Care Manager, Kristina Gonzales, shares why volunteers and interns are so important!

Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting A New Leaf’s Foster Care and Family Support programs, bringing joy and stability to the lives of foster children and their families. Foster care programs rely heavily on the support of volunteers to provide necessary services and resources to children in need. In addition, volunteers who help organize events play a vital role in bringing joy and happiness to foster families.

Volunteers in education programs ensure that no child is restricted access to a better education. Families and individuals in any situation shouldn’t have to choose between sending their child to school or paying the bills. All of our amazing education volunteers make sure this choice is never made.

By providing a sense of community and belonging, volunteers help to create a positive and uplifting experience for foster children and their families. In the last year, volunteers have given over 1,089 hours of time to foster families, and educational support services at A New Leaf. This impact is incredible, and we are so thankful for your support!
