My name is Monica Alvarado and I have a passion for helping people live healthier lifestyles. For some time ago, I desired opening my own Smoothie Protein Bar, but had no idea how to. I began employment with a wonderful non-profit agency A New Leaf, not knowing all the services they provided. I became an employee; however, I also became a client, gaining knowledge needed to begin my entrepreneur journey.
I was connected with an array of services. I completed my first ever month budget analysis. I met with an Economic Development counselor, who was great at explaining services as well as all workshops they offered. I was beyond grateful as I was able to attend workshops that helped me gain knowledge of what would be expected as entrepreneur. I recall my first workshop; Business Forms, where I did my first ever elevator pitch.
An Economic Development consultant help me begin this journey and give it life. I was able to put dates to goals, work on location, work on marketing tools, work on numbers, work on menu, attending more workshops, connecting with city and county inspectors, so many things; all with the help of the consultant. My business plan was a great tool used to give me insight to the many things I would need and plan for. I was able to open Healthy Vibes Nutrition in Mesa first week of January 2021, however, my journey began in the Spring of 2020. And amidst social distancing, there was always a way of helping me and moving forward.
My next goal is continuing with marketing and promoting so that more people know about Healthy Vibes Nutrition, and there is also a plan for this too! I am so grateful to Economic Development and all people who supported and continue to support me. It is nice having someone with knowledge give you feedback, guidance and support when you have no one else.
