A Slice of Joy at Spinato’s Pizzeria
Children from A New Leaf’s La Mesita housing and shelter programs enjoyed an unforgettable day at Spinato’s Pizzeria. Thanks to the generosity of the Spinato’s team, kids were welcomed into the heart of the restaurant, where they rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the role of pizza chefs. From learning how to stretch the dough just right to carefully choosing their toppings, every child got the chance to create a personal pizza made exactly the way they liked it.
The laughter and excitement in the kitchen were contagious. For many of the kids, this was their very first time making pizza from scratch, and the sense of accomplishment when they saw their creations come out of the oven was priceless. More than just a fun field trip, the experience gave children the opportunity to be creative, learn something new, and enjoy a hands-on activity in a safe, encouraging environment. By the end of the morning, each child walked away not only with a delicious meal but also with a memory they could treasure.
More Than Pizza: Lasting Memories
Best of all, Spinato’s had even more surprises waiting for the kids. Every child received a thoughtful gift bag that included a playful hat, tasty treats, and coloring pages to take home, something fun to extend the experience beyond the restaurant. To make the day even sweeter, gelato was served for dessert, creating the perfect ending to an already joyful adventure.
The extra care and attention from the Spinato’s team transformed what could have been just another lunch outing into something truly magical. For children facing challenges like homelessness or housing insecurity, these kinds of experiences matter deeply. They remind them that the community sees them, cares about them, and wants them to experience the same joy and opportunities as any other child.
From all of us at A New Leaf, and from every child whose face lit up with excitement, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Spinato’s Pizzeria. Your generosity, creativity, and compassion made this day one that our kids will never forget—and one that will continue to inspire them long after the gelato bowls were empty.
