Serving children 6 weeks to 5 years of age, early childhood education programming focuses on each child’s unique characteristics, developmental needs, and interests to support their growth and development during the most important years in a child’s development.
Phoenix Day Janis Merrill Education Center
A New Leaf’s Phoenix Day Janis Merrill Education Center has offered quality early education to families from across the Valley for more than 100 years, providing a solid educational foundation for children ages 0-5 from a diversity of households.
Strong Foundations Early Learning Center
The mission of Strong Foundations Early Learning Center is to prepare children for future academic and life-long success by providing high quality early education in an emotionally supportive environment designed to build resiliency.

Many children across the Valley experience behavioral challenges that disrupt their lives at home, in school, and in the community. Through multiple after-school programs, A New Leaf offers children and youth a chance to learn healthy behaviors and catch up in school.
La Mesita Youth Services
A New Leaf’s La Mesita Youth Services Program provides children with the support they need to succeed academically and personally. This program is designed to give parents staying in the La Mesita apartments access to affordable childcare.
adult educational opportunities
A New Leaf believes that education is the key out of homelessness and poverty. Through a variety of programs, we help adults achieve their educational goals, providing them with the professional and technical skills they need to move up in the workplace.
Assets to Opportunity
The Assets to Opportunity (ATO) program offers 8:1 matched savings for education, 3:1 matched savings for small business, and financial literacy workshops.
GED to a Degree
MesaCAN and La Mesita are now offering a FREE GED program. Classes are also available to help students prepare for their GED, and take their GED exam. This program is a first step towards achieving a higher education for all.
Workforce Services
A New Leaf helps those looking to rejoin the workforce or advance their careers by assisting with building a resume, helping establish references, and finding employers willing to help them to grow and succeed.
